Hiking in Los Angeles: 3 Spots we LOVE

Isn’t hiking the best workout ever? You sweat, but you also get to discover new scenic areas, hidden natural gems that can sometimes only be accessed that way. Hiking when on vacation is an added plus: it allows you to explore a destination in a whole different way. Hiking in Los Angeles is a beautiful way to tour the city in a different way (while you work out).

There are plenty of hiking trails across the county, fit for hikers and bikers with diverse experience. However, if it’s your first time hitting a trail, make sure you have the basics: sunscreen, sunglasses, water, and hiking shoes that fit you just right.

Read on to discover 3 hiking spots in Los Angeles that we are genuinely in love with:

1.- Hollywood Hills

Is there anything more Los Angeles than Hollywood itself? This hike is ideal for those who want to get close to the incomparable glitz and glamour of La La Land. The Runyon Canyon Loop trail, for example, is a 3-mile round trip that offers views of some of LA’s most iconic hotspots: the Hollywood sign and the Sunset Strip. If you are an architecture fan, this is the trail for you, as it is surrounded by million-dollar mansions. The Bronson Canyon trail is better suited for those looking for peace and quiet. It is less than a mile long, and its cave has been featured in many films and TV shows: it was the entrance to the Batcave from the 1960s Batman TV series!

2.- Beverly Hills

Experienced or amateur, the iconic Beverly Hills feature trails for all types of hikers. The Hastain Trail in Franklin Canyon Park is a 2.3-mile trip that offers scenic views of the Pacific Ocean. In the area, you will also find a peaceful lake, perfect for bird or photography enthusiasts. The Cahuenga Peak hike is a 2.4-mile roundtrip located in a park that used to belong to Howard Hughes. Morning person? Then we suggest you make your way up at sunrise, where you will enjoy unique vistas of the San Fernando Valley and Downtown LA. Cahuenga is the highest point in Griffith Park.

3.- Brentwood Hills

This LA gem offers the best of both worlds: nature and civilization. Hiking, biking, walking your dog or having a picnic are just some of the many things you can do on Brentwood Hills’ magnificent trails. The Westridge trail, for example, features lovely views of West L.A. and the Santa Monica Mountains. This 3.5-mile hike is located in the Westridge-Canyonback Wilderness Park, which used to be a military facility in the 1950s. In Los Angeles, there is always something new to learn. The Mandeville Canyon Fire Road is another excellent option in the area, especially if you love the occasional celeb sighting. With plenty of uphill climbs, this trail is perfect for an intensive workout.

Omnifique’s portfolio keeps growing, and we’ve just added a selection of LA homes to it. If you’re interested in discovering any of these trails for yourself, contact us, and we’ll hook you up with the most fantastic accommodation to rest afterward.
