We love Telluride for its dramatic natural landscapes: it’s the ultimate destination for hiking and ski lovers. However, its breathtaking views are matched by an eclectic cultural offer. Summer or winter, it doesn’t matter. There is always something exciting to do in Telluride.
1. Ouray Ice Festival
Are you into ice climbing? Or maybe you just enjoy the atmosphere and the striking mountain air. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Ouray Ice Festival, which will include vendor exhibitions, ice and mixed climbing battles, over 100 interactive climbing clinics, music, food, dance parties and a live and silent auction. Don’t miss this chance to book your accommodation, the event takes place between January 23 and 26!
2. Telluride Comedy Festival
It’s always nice to have something fun to do “après-ski”. If you want to leave the hot tub and spend an evening laughing away those sore muscles, head over to the Telluride Comedy Festival, held every year at the Sheridan Opera House. This year, the event will take place between February 13 and 16. Past performers include Nick Kroll, Ed Helms, and Jason Mantzoukas.
3. Telluride Balloon Festival
Is 2020 the year you’ll propose to your partner? Who knows, but it can’t hurt to take part in a romantic, dream-like hot air balloon festival with someone you love. The 37th Annual Telluride Balloon Festival takes place on June 6 and 7 at the Town Park. In the evening, balloons lit up to create an unforgettable display of lights and colors in the sky.
4. Telluride WOW
To us, there’s nothing more relaxing than a weekend of wellness. That is what WOW is all about: leave your phone at home and enjoy four days of yoga, pilates, hiking, jiu jitsu, inspirational and motivational talks, and so much more! This boutique-sized event will be held between June 6 and 9.
5. Telluride Wine Festival
Indulge in life’s greatest pleasures at Telluride’s 39th Annual Wine Festival, held between June 25 and 28. This event is a great opportunity to taste some amazing wines from across the country paired with food by some of Colorado’s (and the world’s!) shiniest culinary stars. It is a truly interactive series of events, featuring cooking and tasting demos, lessons and a wide array of samplings. The best of all 2020 Telluride events!
6. Telluride Yoga Festival
If you’re a fellow yogi or yogini, you know this ancient practice is more than a mindful workout, it’s a lifestyle in itself. That’s why we love the local Yoga Festival, held this year between June 25 and 28. Is there anything better than practicing your favorite asanas surrounded by the dramatic scenery of Telluride’s canyons? Meditation, music, hiking, dining, SUP yoga, social gatherings and more are also on the event’s schedule.
7. The RIDE Festival
Rock ‘n roll fans across the country are eagerly waiting for the announcement of this year’s RIDE Festival’s line-up. Past performers include Pearl Jam, Beck, Cage the Elephant, David Byrne, St. Vincent, and The Lumineers, among many others. This year, the event will be held between July 10 and 12.
8. Telluride Jazz Festival
Does jazz sound better with the acoustic wonders of the Rocky Mountains? It definitely seems so! This year, the 44th annual Telluride Jazz Festival will take place between August 7 and 9. Our insider tip? The late-night Jazz After Dark sessions where intimate and unforgettable performances will give you the chance to enjoy the music from a different perspective.
9. Telluride Film Festival
The annual Film Festival is probably Telluride’s most famous event. Held on Labor Day Weekend, it’s a celebration of the best of film from around the world, focusing mainly on independent flicks. We love the fact that the event’s program is not revealed beforehand, which brings even more excitement to the experience.
10. Original Thinkers
Held between October 1 and 4, this festival will feature speakers, film, art shows, and performances. The main topic? How can we – together – have a lasting impact. If you are you ready to make a difference and change the world, this may be the place to be.
