5 Tips for the Best Bed Linens

You spend one-third of your lifetime asleep. So, shouldn’t your bedsheets bring you absolute pleasure? The answer is absolutely. Here a few tips and tricks to up your bedsheet game.

Thread Count

Despite the common misconception, a higher thread count doesn’t mean it’s better. In fact, Consumer Reports states that a thread count of 400 is the creme de la creme. Anything over that is imperceptible. However, it’s worth your while to spend a little more on sheets made from the best materials, which we’ll touch on in the next point.

Material

The top-of-the-line fabric for bedsheets is Egyptian cotton, which is thin and soft yet strong and long lasting. The second best is pima, also known by the trademark Supima. Pima cotton is known for its softness, sheen, and affordability in comparison to Egpytian cotton. If you live in a hot climate, linen is your best bet for keeping cool on summer nights. It is soft, durable, and will last you a lifetime.

Weave

The weave of bedsheets affects its feel as much as the material does. The two most popular are percale and sateen. Percale sheets provide a slightly crisp, cool feel while being durable and strong. Sateen sheets provide a touchably soft and silky feel. But Because sateen is more delicate than percale, it will not last as long.

Color

White bed sheets are the most popular among Americans, making up for 90% of bedsheet sales. Aside from being able to bleach white bed sheets, its popularity is due to its clean and sophisticated look. But if you wish to switch up your bedroom’s color palette from the typical  off-white, cream, or beige, we recommend using natural earth-toned greens and blues. These colors promote a calm psyche, which is necessary for a good night’s rest.

Seasonality

Is it necessary to purchase sheets for both summer and winter? Not really. You can add a bedspread, blanket, or even an electric blanket to keep warm during the winter months.
