Crafting Experiences for Guests: Leave Out the Good Stuff

So, you’ve received an email from Omnifique confirming that you have a booking. Now, what? This is the first part of our series of tips on how to prepare your home for rental. In this edition: what to store away and what to leave out.

One of the main concerns of our homeowners is the organization of their valuable possessions. Of course, you want to store certain items, but others will definitely improve the experience for your guests. You want them to come back, right? Making them feel special is one way to do it. Also, at Omnifique, we pick and choose our guests, we don’t just accept anyone who wants to come in through the door. We get to know them and build strong relationships with them. So, we do make sure not to expose you to random strangers.

So, for our tips. So, let’s get one thing straight: your house is stunning. It’s a reflection of who you are, and we know that every detail in it has a purpose, a story behind it. Our guests also value that, it’s one of the main reasons they partner up with us. They’re not looking for an empty property with no personality as a vacation rental. Our guests are eager to discover the little details that make your property the stunner it is.

What does this mean for you? If you have a beautiful cashmere throw in the living room, leave it! If you have an exclusive collection of paintings on the walls, don’t be afraid and let the guests enjoy it. In the past, homeowners have gracefully given access to their gold china and silverware. Others have allowed guests to try any bottle of wine from their personal collection in the cellar. Of course, this is a personal decision, but we encourage you to treat the guests as your own, even if you won’t have any contact with them.

Now, what to store away? Any valuables, either monetary or sentimental. The best way to narrow this down is to ask yourself these questions:

1. If this gets misplaced or damaged, can I replace it? If the answer is no, please store it away.

The clay mug that your son made in the first grade. The Ming dynasty vase that you inherited from your mother-in-law. You get the idea.

2. Is this item very valuable and has nothing to do with the experience of the guests in the house? If the answer is yes, please store it.

Your jewelry, store it. Your coin collection, store it. Your guns, store them.

We’ll also be there to give you a hand. All your day-to-day personal items will be put away and stored by our staff, so you don’t have to worry about that, and everything will be put back in the same way that was before. We’ll take care of everything, so you return to your happy place with nothing to worry about.
